Pollen morphology of Acalypha L. (Euphorbiaceae) with emphasis on Brazilian species from Bahia

چکیده

We investigated the pollen morphology of eight species Acalypha occurring in Bahia State, Brazil. Flower buds were collected from specimens deposited CEPEC and HUEFS herbaria. Pollen samples acetolyzed analyzed using both light scanning electron microscopy. The grains examined optical microscopy found to be small brevicolporate, with three six apertures elevations fastigium, had a psilate scabrate exine. Scanning revealed presence supratectal elements Ubisch bodies, evidenced types based mainly on exine ornamentation: microrugulate-scabrate (slightly rugulate-scabrate), areolate-rugulate, microechinate. This study provides new data interpretations for genus Acalypha, comments palynological relationships between its sister group Mareya, next most closely related (Spathiostemon).

Relationship between pollen morphology and chromosome numbers in Brazilian species of Lippia L. (Verbenaceae).

The pollen morphology and exine structure of 17 species of Lippia L. were investigated in this work using light and scanning electron microscopy. Among the species studied, 14 showed tricolporate pollen grains, two had tri- and tetracolporate pollen grains and a single species exhibited, only tetracolporate pollen. The amb ranged from triangular to square, and the shape varied from oblate-spher...

Pollen Morphology of Some Turkish Crocus L. (iridaceae) Species

The genus Crocus L. (Iridaceae) comprises about 80 species distributed mainly in the Mediterranean region. It is widely dispersed in Turkey; at present about 67 taxa (including subspecies and varieties) are recognized there (Mathew, 1984, 1988, 1995, 2000; Kerndorff and Pasche, 2003, 2004). The Turkish Crocus species have received attention by several workers, who have concentrated mainly on mo...

Novelties in Selaginella (Selaginellaceae – Lycopodiophyta), with emphasis on Brazilian species

In this paper, I describe five new species of Selaginella from Brazil (Selaginella nanuzae, Selaginella neospringiana, Selaginella pellucidopunctata, Selaginella stomatoloma, and Selaginella trygonoides), compare them to morphologically similar species, and provide a preliminary conservation status assessment for each. The new species are illustrated with scanning electron photomicrographs of s...

Pollen morphology of Oxalis species from Buenos Aires province (Argentina).

Pollen morphology and the degree of pollen variability within nine species and two varieties of Oxalis species from Buenos Aires Province (Argentina) were studied using light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Oxalis pollen grain is generally 3-colpate and the shape is prolate spheroidal, oblate spheroidal or spheroidal. The exine is ...
